    Description

Moeck Bass Baroque Rankett, Sausage Bassoon, Ranket with 3 Reeds and Fingering Chart. The reeds are used. Also included is information on how to get new reeds made. The range is BB flat (below the bass clef) to G above middle C. To the best of my knowledge there is no modern maker that is currently making ranketts. The white that appears at the point where the bocal goes into the instrument is Teflon tape which was used to make the bocal fit securely. There is one mark on the back of the instrument. Please look the pictures over carefully.
The rankett was originally produced in the late 16th and 17th century. The Yamaha website says this:
“The musical instruments that could be described as ancestors of the bassoon were developed in the 16th century, and include the shawm, the rankett, and the dulcian (or curtal)”
Because of current situation, I’m not accepting returns. This instrument is part of a large collection of early music instruments which includes krummhorns, recorders, cornettos. They were all treated with care.
